Hey all! Today I am sharing with you 8 ways that you can upgrade your home using smart technology. Most of already understand the importance of keeping your home updated. We are constantly redoing kitchens, baths, and changing flooring & wall colors to the latest trends, but nowadays it is equally important to update your homes technology as well!
So I decided to do a little research for both myself and all of you. I choose Home Depot because it's a store that pretty much everyone has access too and they seem to have a nice variety of brands and prices.
Here's What I Found:
8 Smart Home Upgrades
Wifi Deadbolt Door Lock. Wired version seems to be more reliable
Wifi Video Doorbell. Popular brands include Ring and Google Nest.
Upgrade your thermostat to a smart thermostat. I have a Google Nest, but other reputable brands include Honeywell and Ecobee.
Smart Switchitches). Popular products are the Leviton Wifi switches, the Lutron Caseta switch, and the Lutron Pico remote.
Update your existing security system , security cameras, or add one to your home. Depending on what you need, there are many to choose from and most are easy to install yourself.
Stream your entertainment with Chromecast, Fire TV, Google Hub, and Amazon Echo.
Google Nest smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector. I just installed 3 into my home.
Last but certainly not least, if you have some extra $$ laying around the RoboRock is the new, cool, home helper. The one that I have linked is both a vacuum cleaner and a sonic mop. It is quite pricey, but has excellent reviews.
I'm not saying to make all of these upgrades at once. And I will definitely say do your own research. Everyone's homes and needs are different, and everyone's "upgrade" will look different. If you are looking to turn your home into a Smart Home, you need to start by choosing the brand that you want to use. Since most of this technology syncs together, you may need to stick with either the same brand or brands that work together.
For example, I started my upgrade with Google Nest.
Aside from the convenience, the efficiency, and the savings in your pocket book. Upgrading your homes technology also makes it that much more appealing when you are looking to sell. The new generation of home buyers know about and want these upgrades! Truthfully, even the old generation (like me) want them, as well đ
